Orthodox Catechism Book and Workbook These books work together to instruct the basics of Orthodox Christian belief and Orthodox Christian living. "What is a catechism?" you may ask.  Catechism comes from a Greek word meaning "to teach or inform."  Saint Luke's Gospel was written in order to confirm to Theophilus "the things of which you have been informed" (Luke 1:4). The Bible text primarily used in the lessons is the Revised Standard Version with Apocrypha.  The Apocryphal books were used by the early Church and are still used by the Orthodox Church.
